Just a Note

During World War II, the Japanese Army
could not break the secret code of the
U.S. Military. The code was simply a group
of Navajo volunteers speaking their Native
American language on their field radios.

What Do Thy Tell Thy Self?

"MY FATHER AND MY FATHER"
"I see you deeply listening and to what words, I do not know.
I feel the ease of your attention, for what,
you, yourself are saying.
I see the strength of your sureness in speaking with yourself."

Today with all of our creativity and technology, editing, cropping, double/triple exposures with the lens and computer savvy, I was taken into a different realm when looking at this photo in my Fathers Service Record Book. It is more to me than creativity in the 40's with photography, it spoke to me of more... Life with meaning than than just another double exposure.

I have done nothing to this photo except scan and crop it

Locket of Love

This Locket my father made for my mother in 1942 while stationed in the Aleutian Islands.
It is made from a two nickles, which is the heart. The hinges are from a dime and the pivot pin was that of a penny. The engraving of Alma and designs were were placed in with the taping of a nail. The inside scene, (bonded up) is the view he had from his Quonset across the bay looking toward the volcano. The paint is that of tints and colors he created from miscellaneous ink and mother earth.

Tokyo Rose

With all the many aspects of a great man, father and husband his natural talents of creating were never endless. As the cold winds blew across the frozen tundra and the few hrs of darkness would settle in a man would need to find peace and comfort in this frozen world.

I have with me a few remaining items that he had created and this ink sketch is just one.

Tanamabogo Island WWII

The Caption reads
NOT THAT THIS South Sea isle wasn't a desolate spot in the first place,
but by the time American aireman delivered one of their
knock out bombing attacks it really looked deserted.
This is Tanambogo Island in the Solomo group after U.S. bombs blasted (in forground)
and the fronts of the buildings facing the bay.
Circle shows fallen Japanese Zero fighter plane.
